What makes detective fiction so popular?

Detective fiction is so insanely popular because people have a craving for suspense, action, and mystery. These days, you can’t search through the channels on the television without finding a detective show like Psych, NCIS, CSI, and Law & Order. Of course there are countless movies too; Sherlock Holmes, and so many more others.

But what is it that makes us truly crave crime fighting? It’s the good feeling you get when the fictional villain is caught, or the perp is arrested. And, it’s the adreneline rush you get when the criminal gets away, or when there is an epic police chase. Crime shows are meant to give you a sense of wonderment and action… 2 things the human brain craves.
